Jerusalem, Israel - March 20, 2025 Security tightened in Jerusalem on the third Friday of Ramadan. Israel Police will deploy some 3,000 police officers, including border guards, to ensure the safety of tens of thousands of worshippers arriving at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The force will be concentrated in and around the Old City, with additional reinforcements deployed at crossings and in areas east of the city. Traffic restrictions will also be in place from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including on Sultan Suleiman Street, Jericho Road, Salah El-Din Street and others. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes, such as Begin Street. Police are calling on the public to follow the instructions and report any incidents to the emergency number 100.
