VARIOUS OF POLICE ARRESTING SOME PROTESTERSBERLIN, GERMANY - APRIL 19: Peace marches were held across several German cities on Saturday, April 19, as part of traditional Easter demonstrations calling for an end to global conflicts. In Berlin, around 2,000 people gathered at Mariannenplatz in the Kreuzberg district for a march organized by a coalition of civil society groups. Participants urged a diplomatic resolution to ongoing wars and called for an end to weapons deliveries to conflict zones. Demonstrators also demanded that any future German government pursue a peace-oriented foreign policy and reject the deployment of US missiles in Germany. Easter peace marches are held annually across the country by unions, peace organizations, left-wing groups, and church representatives. This year, around 1,000 people joined the march in Hanover, and 800 each in Kassel, Munich, and Bremen. Police reported six detentions during the Berlin rally, which was held under heightened security.
