Phoenix, United States - April 30, 2025 04/30/2025 03:10 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police officers and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of 25th Avenue and Van Buren Street at approximately 3:10 a.m. According to preliminary information gathered at the scene, an adult male pedestrian was struck by an eastbound SUV and thrown into the westbound lanes of Van Buren Street. A westbound SUV then ran over the pedestrian, pinning him under the SUV near the back tire. Fire crews arrived and utilized the Jaws of Life to extricate the pedestrian from under the SUV. The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries in critical condition. A hard closure was established for Van Buren Street for approximately two hours while officers and detectives investigated the collision. Both involved drivers remained at the scene.
