The strike, initiated by the IG Metall union, began with the early shift at 4:30 a.m. and will continue in rotating shifts until Thursday morning. Reports indicate that the walkout has significantly disrupted production, with the majority of workers participating. The striking workers, including many Turkish nationals, aim to increase pressure on Ford management during ongoing negotiations concerning the planned job reductions. The Cologne facility, which has been in operation since 1930, serves as the European headquarters for the U.S.-based automaker and employs approximately 11,500 people.
