Maryland Governor Wes Moore said national and local authorities were actively responding to the situation, with Maryland State Police, Department of Natural Resources police, and dive teams deployed to the affected area. “We are closely monitoring the flood conditions that are present across Western Maryland due to heavy rainfall, especially in Allegany County,” Moore said in a statement on Facebook. The Maryland Department of Emergency Management raised its Emergency Operations Center status to support the response, and Governor Moore stated that additional support would be provided as needed.
