Türkiye: Magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits central Türkiye

KONYA, TÜRKİYE - MAY 15, 2025: A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck the Kulu district of central Türkiye’s Konya province at 3:46 p.m. local time on Thursday, May 15, according to the country’s disaster management authority. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 18.73 kilometers, with tremors felt across neighboring provinces, including the capital Ankara. Konya Governor Ibrahim Akin told Anadolu that no damage or casualties had been reported so far. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay also confirmed that field teams had been deployed and no major incidents had been reported. He noted that AFAD and municipal teams are continuing on-site inspections and added that there have been no reports of collapsed structures.
