NABATIEH, LEBANON - MAY 22, 2025: Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Thursday, May 22, targeting multiple locations in southern Lebanon. According to Lebanese media, one person was killed and another injured in the attacks, in the latest violations of a ceasefire agreement. One of the strikes hit a building in the town of Toul, located in the Nabatieh Governorate. Footage from the scene captured the moment the airstrike struck the structure, followed by the rapid arrival of fire trucks, ambulances, and emergency workers responding to the aftermath. Earlier, Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee had shared a map on social media highlighting a building in Toul, near Nabatieh, as a target. He claimed the building belonged to Hezbollah and called for the evacuation of surrounding structures. Despite the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon on November 27, 2024, Israel has frequently violated the terms of the truce. During ground attacks, Israeli forces entered several border towns and continue to maintain a military presence at five positions—despite a withdrawal clause in the agreement. Through both air and ground assaults, Israel has inflicted significant damage in border regions, and months after the ceasefire took effect, it continues to target vehicles and specific locations in southern Lebanon using drones. Israeli forces have conducted near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah activities, despite the ceasefire that was reached in November. The truce ended months of cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah, which escalated into a full-scale conflict in September. Lebanese authorities have reported nearly 3,000 Israeli violations of the truce, including the deaths of over 200 victims and injuries to at least 500 others since last November. Under the ceasefire deal, Israel was supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by Jan. 26, but the deadline was extended to Feb. 18 after Israel refused to comply. Israel still maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
