MALE RESIDENT AYID AL-GAFRI SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Arabic) SCRIPT Palestinians in the village of Meghayir al-Deir, located east of Ramallah, have reportedly been forced to flee their homes amid a rise in attacks by Israeli settlers. Local sources say the assaults have escalated in recent weeks, prompting the displacement of numerous families. The ongoing violence is part of a broader pattern, which has so far resulted in the forced displacement of over 30 Bedouin communities, affecting a total of 323 families. Since the start of the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, nearly 970 Palestinians have been killed and over 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
