GAZA, PALESTINE - MAY 26, 2025: At least 74 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Monday, as Tel Aviv continued its genocidal war on the seaside enclave, medics said. A medical source told Anadolu that 31 people were killed, including 18 children and six women, when fighter jets struck the Fahmi Al-Jirjawi School, where hundreds of displaced civilians have sheltered in Gaza City’s al-Daraj neighborhood. A fire swept through the tents following the bombing, said medical and local media. Eyewitness videos circulated online, showing burned bodies, many of them children, and others crying out as flames consumed their surroundings. “Charred corpses and the screams of displaced people engulfed in flames were seen and heard from the site,” one report said. In a statement, the Israeli army confirmed the strike, claiming the presence of Hamas gunmen inside the school. It, however, did not provide any proof to support its claim. Meanwhile, in another deadly airstrike, 19 more people were killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a home in Jabalia town in northern Gaza, according to a medical source. Six more people lost their lives and several others were injured in an Israeli drone strike targeting a home in eastern Jabalia, medics said. Four people, including a municipal worker, were also killed, and several others injured in two separate Israeli strikes in northern Gaza, a medical source said. In the central enclave, another Palestinian was killed, and many others were wounded by an Israeli strike that hit a tent sheltering displaced people in the Maghazi refugee camp, the source added. Israeli fighter jets also staged airstrikes in the southern city of Khan Younis, killing at least 12 people, another medical source said. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a genocide against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 54,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
