VARIOUS OF SEAGULLS HUNTING MIGRATING PEARL MULLETSVAN, TÜRKİYE - MAY 28, 2025: Thousands of seagulls have gathered along the streams of Lake Van in eastern Türkiye, drawn by the annual migration of pearl mullets that turns the area into a feeding ground. Pearl mullets, an endemic fish species found only in Lake Van, have begun their annual migration to freshwater streams to spawn, a phenomenon taking place between April 15 and July 15. As the fish head upstream in large numbers, particularly in Ercis district, flocks of seagulls gather around the flowing waters to prey on the migrating mullets.
