At least three people were killed and 28 injured when a road bridge collapsed Saturday, and the subsequent derailment of a passenger train in Russia’s Bryansk Region, Russian state-run news media TASS reported. Preliminary information from the All-Russian Center for Emergency Medicine indicated that those injured were sent to medical facilities, according to the Emergencies Ministry, cited by TASS. Rescue teams are continuing to examine damaged carriages and the locomotive of the train, the ministry added. About 180 people and 60 pieces of equipment have been involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident, TASS added. “A bridge collapsed in the Vygonichsky District. Currently, in the area of one of the sections of the federal highway A240, a traffic accident occurred involving cars and a passenger train,” Gov. Alexander Bogomaz said earlier on Telegram. “Unfortunately, there are casualties. He said emergency services and government officials are working at the scene. "Everything necessary is being done to provide assistance to the victims." Investigators are also inspecting the scene, according to the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
