Storyline: AI empowers digital teaching, learning across China [Voice_over] Artificial intelligence is reshaping the educational landscape in China by modernizing teaching and learning and by narrowing the gap in resources. At a high school in Shanghai, students are learning trigonometry concepts with the help of an AI-powered teaching assistant, which can analyze students' weaknesses in real-time and generate targeted exercises. [Sound_bite] Sheng Yi, High school student: "The system helps us constantly review the knowledge points on which we often make mistakes. It is of significant help to the overall mastery of knowledge points and is very helpful for improving our grades." [Voice_over] In the southern Chinese tech hub of Shenzhen, middle school students are experiencing AI firsthand. They're wearing headbands to capture brainwave signals, which are decoded by AI algorithms and converted into control signals that move robotic arms. [Sound_bite] He Chuanjie, Vice-principal, Nanshan Second Foreign Language School (Group) Hyde School: "We hope to use AI to inspire the students' enthusiasm for science and technology, and cultivate their innovative thinking, ability of practice, and comprehensive quality in solving complex problems, in efforts to develop compound talents with comprehensive innovative capabilities for future society." [Voice_over] Meanwhile, digital technology is also bridging educational gaps in rural areas. At a primary school in northwest China's Qinghai Province, students now have access to over 50 specialized after-school courses, ranging from paper-cutting to embroidery, through the National Smart Education Platform for Primary and Secondary Schools. [Sound_bite] Shan Youqing, Principal, Xining Yangguang Primary School: "Massive, high-quality digital resources can effectively solve the problem of insufficient learning resources and limited learning opportunities for our children in rural areas, and provide our students with greater learner spaces for independent choice." [Voice_over] Over the past three years, 184 primary and secondary schools across China have been designated as AI education bases. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
