Storyline: Demonstration in New York continued for third straight day as hundreds of protesters gathered in Lower Manhattan Wednesday afternoon, opposing the intensified deportations by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). While smaller than the previous day's demonstration, which drew an about 2,500 participants and led to 86 arrests after nightfall, Wednesday's rally continued to express strong opposition to the immigration enforcement raids. These protests follow ICE operations in several locations in Los Angeles last week which sparked widespread protests across the country against the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration. Gathering at Foley Square, demonstrators in New York City displayed signs bearing slogans like "Abolish ICE" and "Fight Ignorance, Not Immigrants," and chanting "No ICE" as they marched. Many expressed solidarity with Los Angeles, where U.S. President Donald Trump dispatched the military in response to protests. Anticipating potential unrest similar to Tuesday's event, New York City police had deployed drones and barricades to manage the demonstration. Clashes broke out when protesters reached the intersection near ICE headquarters, and several people were arrested. A larger demonstration is reported planned for the afternoon of June 14, and both police and organizers are preparing for the event. Shotlist: New York City, USA - June 11, 2025: 1.
