Iran: Israel, Iran trade new round of strikes against each other
Storyline Israel and Iran engaged in a fresh round of retaliatory attacks on Saturday night, escalating tensions in the region. Many Israeli media outlets reported that on Saturday night, the Israeli army initiated a new wave of strikes on Tehran, the capital of Iran. A reporter from China Central Television (CCTV) witnessed a drone attack in Tehran on Saturday night, describing it as accompanied by a powerful explosion and billowing smoke. In response, air defense systems in Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, and the southern port city of Bandar Abbas were activated to intercept incoming threats. The Israeli military subsequently released a statement confirming that their forces targeted the headquarters of the Iranian Ministry of Defense, described as the "heart" of Iran's nuclear program, as well as several oil facilities. Additionally, on the same night, Iran commenced a fresh round of missile attacks on Israel. The Iranian authorities stated that they employed drones and ballistic missiles to retaliate against Israel's prior assaults, targeting key locations including Tel Aviv and Haifa.
