AREA WHERE PROTESTERS GATHERINGBAGHDAD, IRAQ - JUNE 16: Supporters of the Shia militia group Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq staged a demonstration in Baghdad on Monday, June 16, to show solidarity with Iran and condemn Israel's recent attacks. The protest took place outside the Green Zone, a high-security area housing government buildings and foreign embassies. Demonstrators chanted pro-Iran slogans and called on the Iraqi government to ban Israel from using Iraqi airspace in any future attacks on Iran. Protesters also demanded the closure of the US Embassy in Baghdad, accusing Washington of supporting Israeli attacks. A similar protest was held in the same location a day earlier by other Shia militia supporters. In response to the potential for escalation, Iraqi security forces closed access to the Green Zone to prevent any attempt to storm the US Embassy.
