Climate activists chained themselves to the entrance of an advertising conglomerate's building in New York as they protested against fossil fuels.

Footage shows members of the civil disobedience group Extinction Rebellion chanting outside Publicis Groupe's office amid a scorching heatwave on Wednesday, June 25.

They carried a yellow banner that read 'Stop Advertising Fossil Fuels' as they slammed the advertising giant's contracts with fossil fuel companies such as Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies.

A woman dressed as 'Madame Methane' was seen blocking the exit of a building.

Extinction Rebellion spokesman Miles Grant said: 'Publicis claims to care about climate breakdown, but their contracts with oil giants tell a different story. This isn't just greenwashing, it's green betrayal. Their clients are fueling the crisis, and Publicis is helping them sell it.'

Police later arrived and arrested 10 demonstrators, including two minors.

Extinction Rebellion is a UK-founded global movement that uses peaceful civil disobedience to draw attention to environmental issues.
