BODIES OF PALESTINIANS KILLED IN ISRAELI ATTACKKHAN YOUNIS, PALESTINE - JUNE 30: At least 13 Palestinians were killed and 50 others injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting an area where civilians were waiting for humanitarian aid on Monday, June 30, in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. Health officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis told Anadolu that the Israeli military struck a location where Palestinians had gathered in hopes of receiving vital aid supplies. The condition of several of the injured was reported as critical, raising concerns that the death toll could rise. Witnesses said the attack occurred near a designated aid distribution point, where people had assembled to obtain food, water, and other essential items amid Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis. According to the UN Human Rights Office, at least 503 Palestinian aid seekers have been killed and 3,000 others injured by Israeli gunfire in Gaza since May 27. Since that day, Israel and the US have been operating an aid distribution system independent of the UN and major humanitarian agencies. Critics have condemned the initiative as a “death trap,” as Israeli troops have repeatedly opened fire on crowds seeking food and supplies. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 56,531 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Abdallah F.s. Alattar // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
