This dad was convinced by his daughter to enter a dance competition and it ended up with the father's backflip attempt failing miserably.

After witnessing another contestant pull off a backflip, Paul tried to emulate their success. The attempt failed miserably, sending the crowd into fits of laughter.

The dad told Newsflare: "On holiday in Mexico, I was encouraged by my daughter to go on stage to enter a competition to win her a T-shirt. It turned out to be a dancing competition.

"I cannot dance and have no coordination but decided to give it a go by copying people when the young gentleman did the backflip it looked quite effortless so decided to give it a go despite never attempting one before.

"I thought I’d pulled it off but just landed awkwardly as the audience went wild with applause only retrospectively I discovered how bad it was) this was the first of two dances. I didn’t realise this at the time but the most popular dancers went into a dance off Which is on our second video.

"This is the follow up to the first video, by now I was exhausted as very unfit and could feel my heart pounding, my thought process was I can still to try to win the t-shirt. With the back flip again the audience were going wild encouraging me to do it again, I genuinely thought I did a back flip and again just missed-timed the landing.

"During the voting at the end by the audience I received a standing ovation for what seemed like a couple of minutes and I won the event. Again it was retrospectively in viewing the video that perhaps it was not for being the best dancer!"
