In a heartwarming display of love and dedication, Luciana’s stepdad, known lovingly as Grandad, drove six hours overnight from Wales to surprise his granddaughter Ellie on her very first sports day.

The family hadn’t seen each other in months since Luciana’s parents relocated to Wales, relying mostly on phone calls to stay connected. But Grandad knew Ellie was feeling nervous about the big day, and decided to show up in person, unannounced, just to cheer her on.

My parents/my daughter’s grandparents moved to Wales last year, we haven’t seen them in months and we usually communicate via phone calls. Grandad drove 6 hours from Wales overnight to come and surprise his granddaughter on her first sports day, as he knew she was a bit nervous. What makes this even more special is that just the night before my daughter, Ellie, was telling me how much she misses her Nana & Grandad. It’s also worth noting that her Grandad is not actually blood related to her but you would never know. He is actually my stepdad and has been my Dad since I was 3, I’m now 29. He is the most incredible man, and he really is the best Dad and Grandad ever.
