ROME, ITALY - JULY 4, 2025: At least 10 people were injured in a powerful explosion at a gas station in Rome on Friday, July 4. The blast took place on Gordiani Street in the Prenestino neighborhood, located in the eastern part of the city, authorities said. According to the Italian Fire Brigade (Vigili del Fuoco) and the ANSA news agency, the explosion occurred around 8 a.m. local time. Among the injured were firefighters and police officers responding to the scene. Most sustained minor burns and injuries from shattered glass. The force of the explosion shattered windows in nearby buildings and caused visible damage. A large plume of thick black smoke rose high above the city and was seen from multiple areas across Rome. Eyewitnesses reported a second explosion occurred while emergency crews were tackling the initial blaze, injuring some firefighters and police officers on site.
