The Israeli military opened fire in the Al-Sudaniya area, northwest of Gaza City, where Palestinians had gathered in hopes of receiving a limited shipment of flour that had entered through the Zikim crossing. Witnesses said several injured people were evacuated from the area for medical treatment following the Israeli attack on civilians. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 59,600 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Deaths by starvation have climbed in recent days due to a months-long blockade and poor distribution of aid by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Anas Zeyad Fteha // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
