5. INTERVIEW WITH VENEZUELAN VOTER GOING TO POLLS CARACAS, VENEZUELA - JULY 27: Municipal elections for mayors and council members in Venezuela, in which President Nicolas Maduro also cast his vote, have concluded; following the closing of the polls, vote counting has begun.

In the country, 335 mayors and 2,471 council members are determined by direct popular vote. Some council members, however, are elected through Indigenous community-based processes to ensure Indigenous representation.

Held simultaneously with the elections, the National Youth Consultation (Consulta Nacional de la Juventud) project, promoted by Chavismo, allowed young people aged 15 and above to propose and vote on projects aimed at benefiting their communities. The goal is to implement the selected projects.
