Hundreds of surfers descended on Tamarack Beach for Slamarack 2025, an unofficial annual surf flash mob that transformed the Southern California coastline into a full-blown aquatic mosh pit with boards flying, bodies colliding, and chaos unfolding on every wave.

The event, described by locals as “the apocalypse of surfing,” saw thousands of participants paddling into the same wave simultaneously, resulting in wipeouts, airborne launches, and foam-board pileups. A viral video from the day, shared on Instagram, has racked up over 3 million views.

Insanely crowded surfing line up with boards flying everywhere, people crashing into each other, surfers launching in to the air or ocean with all of this happening on the same wave as part of slamarack. This is an unofficial flash mob surf event at Tamarack surf that happens annually and resembles a surfers version of a mosh pit on every wave. Thousands of people show up and try to surf the same wave as can be seen in the video. Only a few are victorious by then and ride the wave up the shore.
