One of the most persistent fires has been raging for a week in Vila Real, where aerial and ground operations remain ongoing. Meanwhile, authorities report that the situation remains critical in several regions, with new flare-ups complicating containment efforts. Nationwide, a total of 2,794 firefighters were deployed as of Wednesday morning, backed by 887 vehicles and 14 aircraft. Due to forecasts predicting rising temperatures and heightened fire risk, the Portuguese government has extended its state of alert until Friday.
