GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 21, 2025: The Israeli army released 10 Palestinian captives from Gaza on Thursday, Aug. 21, after holding them for months in prisons under harsh conditions amid its ongoing genocide in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

According to medical sources, the freed captives were transported by vehicles operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, where they underwent health screenings.

Israel has periodically released Palestinians detained during its ongoing onslaught in Gaza. Thousands of Palestinians from Gaza are believed to have been detained by the Israeli army since the military campaign began.

Earlier, the Palestinian Prisoners Society reported that Israeli forces have arrested thousands of Gaza residents since the genocidal war began, often under conditions of secrecy and enforced disappearance. The group described the treatment of detainees as “harsh and terrifying,” designed to inflict maximum suffering.

The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued its genocie in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing nearly 62,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
