SHOTLIST: TEL AVIV (AUGUST 23, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. MAKESHIFT MEMORIAL AT HABIMA SQUARA FOR PALESTINIAN CHILDREN KILLED BY ISRAEL (TWO SHOTS) 2. CLOSE-UP OF SIGN SHOWING IMAGE OF MOTHER HOLDING DEAD CHILD WITH TEXT READING “ISRAEL KILLS A CHILD IN GAZA EVERY 52 MINUTES” 3. SOUNDBITE (English) GUY MARGOLIN ABERJEL, FROM HAIFA, SAYING: "So my name is Guy Margolin Aberjel. I know, so I know that it doesn't—I mean, this protest is like one, maybe 1%, maybe 2% of—it represents 2% of the entire population. Other than that, you get bigger protests, which are all about maybe now ending the war. But, you know, they are concerned about the kidnapped. Yeah. But they represent a minority in the country. And anyway, no matter how many protests, how many weekends, the war goes on. The genocide goes on uninterrupted. Uninterrupted. And, I mean, even in the world, you don't see governments putting us, trying to put a stop to it. Seriously, I see many publics, you know, the public in England, public in France, maybe in Turkey, maybe in Australia—you see big publics against it, but you don't see governments doing something, really doing something to stop this. And in Israel, of course, you know, the government is all about genocide. I don't know what to say. I mean, so there's shame. You know, I try to choose the right side of history. I'm for the weak. I'm for the ones who get murdered. So, I don't know how to answer this question. I'm not proud. Never been proud to be an oppressor. I'm for democratic states. I'm for equality. So, you know, some people don't call me Israeli anymore because, you know, I think, it’s a tough question. This is a complicated thing. I mean, you talk about a rift in society, but I believe you refer to the rift between the left Zionists and the right-wing Zionists, which is like—they argue about how to manage the Zionist state: maybe no more shooting in Gaza, maybe less shooting in Gaza, maybe get the hostages first and then conquer Gaza, maybe don't care about the hostages and conquer Gaza anyway. This is the main rift in Israeli society. Other than that, this is like 98% of the society divided. Other than that, you've got the anti-Zionists, which, the rest, between us and the rest of society, is much, much bigger, because we think, we see things entirely differently. I don't believe change can come from within. As I said, we are 1% of the—2% of the society. We can't do much. And fascism is growing fast. So I mean, this protest was almost canceled. The world must act. The world must act. The governments of the world must act to stop this immediately, maybe even by using some force, using their economic forces or boycott forces. I don't know, but something harsh, immediate, and effective must be done, because nothing stops. I mean, this is two years now, and nothing stops. And this is, you asked me how it is to be, if I'm ashamed to be an Israeli: the world should be ashamed. Everybody should be ashamed." 4. VARIOUS OF PROTESTERS HOLDING BANNERS AND PHOTOS OF PALESTINIAN CHILDREN KILLED BY ISRAEL AND CHANTING SLOGANS TEL AVIV - AUGUST 23, 2025: Thousands of people took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday, Aug. 23, calling for an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Around 2,000 demonstrators gathered at Habima Square, carrying banners reading “Stop the Genocide,” “Don’t Kill Children from Gaza to Jenin,” and “Starvation Is a War Crime – Stop It.” Protesters also held photographs of some of the approximately 19,000 children killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7, 2023. Guy Margolin Aberjel, from Haifa, carrying a banner reading “Israel Kills a Child in Gaza Every 52 Minutes,” told Anadolu that the protest represents only a small fraction of Israeli society. “No matter how many protests, the war goes on. The genocide continues uninterrupted. Even globally, governments are not acting to stop it. In Israel, the government is all about genocide. I try to stand on the right side of history, for the weak and those being murdered. The world should be ashamed,” he said. Aberjel added that meaningful change cannot come from within Israel. “We are maybe one percent of society. Fascism is growing fast. This protest was nearly canceled. The world must act—through boycotts, economic pressure, or other strong measures—because nothing stops. The genocide goes on.” Suha Salman Musa, a Palestinian citizen of Israel, said the demonstration aimed to amplify voices against the war and the genocide. “We are protesting the genocide, the occupation, and the suffering in Gaza and the West Bank. Police tried to cancel our march, but we gathered here to make our voices heard. This is not just Palestinians; Jewish Israelis are joining to stand against this genocide,” she said. Musa highlighted Gaza’s ongoing humanitarian crisis. “The UN has confirmed that Israel is using starvation as a weapon. Civilians, not Hamas fighters, are being killed. This is not another war, it is genocide. Children and hostages are starving and dying. We must prevent another Nakba for the Palestinian people.” She called on the international community to act immediately. “Governments must stop this war, end the genocide, bring hostages back to their families, and halt the occupation of Gaza. Palestinians and Israelis together are calling on the world to intervene and stop what is happening now.” The UN-backed monitoring body, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), reported that as of Aug. 15, famine in Gaza City had been confirmed. Israel has killed more than 62,000 Palestinians in its ongoing genocide in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, led to famine, forced migration and spread of disease.
