United States - August 25, 2025 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a call involving a Burmese python near the 28000 block of SW 141 Street, with Capt. Rusty Shaw skillfully capturing the snake. The Burmese python, one of South Florida’s most destructive invasive species, was first introduced through the exotic pet trade. These snakes have established populations in the Everglades and are increasingly appearing in suburban neighborhoods. While the snakes rarely pose a threat to adults, they can endanger domestic pets and continue to impact native wildlife across the region.
