In late winter and early spring, as temperatures rise, the lakes in the park begin to thaw and the ice begins to crack. The three geese did not notice that the ice had become unstable in the warmer temperatures, and just now, after taking a few steps, they fell into the lake.

There's an old Chinese poem that says,"In the warm spring river, the duck foretells." But the geese, as if they had no such predictive powers, stepped right onto the melting ice and fell. Netizens commented that the rightmost of the three geese seemed to be smarter, knowing that the ice in front of him was no longer solid, and chose to stand still and watch the other two geese fall.
