WOMAN BANGING SPOON ON POT TO MAKE NOISE DURING PROTESTNAZARETH, ISRAEL - AUG. 29, 2025: Dozens of demonstrators and foreign activists gathered in the northern Israeli city of Nazareth on Friday, Aug. 29, to protest ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the targeting of Palestinian journalists. Carrying placards and chanting slogans, protesters demanded an immediate halt to the assaults on Gaza and called for urgent humanitarian aid to be delivered to the besieged enclave. Israeli forces confronted several journalists covering the demonstration, including an Anadolu cameraman. Security personnel were seen approaching reporters recording the protest. The participants stressed that the international community must act swiftly to stop the bombardment and prevent further loss of civilian lives in Gaza. The protest comes amid growing concerns over hunger in the enclave and the rising number of Palestinian journalists killed or injured while reporting on the conflict. According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Israel has killed 246 journalists since Oct. 7, 2023. The attack on Nasser Hospital marked the second mass targeting of journalists in less than a month, after six reporters, including five from Al Jazeera, were killed on Aug. 10. Israel later admitted striking Nasser Hospital but deflected responsibility by announcing yet another investigation, which rights groups say rarely leads to accountability. In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office claimed Israel “deeply regrets” the deaths but continued to justify its assault on Gaza. Israel has killed at least 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
