This is the heart-stopping moment a tourist standing on the edge of a skyscraper in Japan sparked panic among onlookers.

Footage shows the daring holidaymaker perched along the ledge at Shibuya Sky in Tokyo on August 27.

Concerned visitors alerted authorities, citing safety risks at the open-air observation deck located on the 47th floor of the 754ft building.

Moments later, the man, dressed in a black shirt and black shorts, was approached by a group of emergency responders urging him to step away from the precarious spot.

It is not yet known whether the man was visiting alone or what led him to access the restricted area.

Shibuya Sky offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Tokyo, including landmarks such as the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Tokyo Skytree, and even Mount Fuji on clear days.
