The event, however, was scaled back as concerns over intensified US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) checks deterred some community members, particularly undocumented migrants.

Performers wearing traditional costumes danced during the ceremony, which was held at the consulate building instead of on a larger scale like in past years.

Since President Donald Trump took office, his administration has intensified immigration crackdowns, increasing both detention and deportations as part of its enforcement agenda.

ICE agents are conducting immigration raids across the US as part of Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration.
