Getting cheers from spectators at Changchun Air Show was like receiving review from the people, said a J-20 pilot, adding the spectators' response filled him with pride. Held in northeast China's Jilin Province, the event runs from Friday to Tuesday, which comprehensively showcases the history and modernization of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force through aerobatic performances, equipment exhibitions, and various interactive activities. On the fourth day of the air show, J-20 fifth-generation stealth fighter jets dazzled visitors with tactical maneuver flight performances. Zhang Kai is a pilot from an aviation regiment of PLA Air Force who participated in the in-flight display. In an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) right after his performance, he said seeing the crowds getting so excited for the mid-air demonstration made him feel proud. "I saw many spectators waving and cheering at me, I felt quite excited and proud. It seemed that people were reviewing their own air forces, which made me feel so proud," said Zhang. As the two-time winner of the "Golden Helmet", the top award for Chinese Air Force fighter pilots, Zhang said his next goal is more than to win more individual honors, but to take his team to achieve greater success. "Of course, it would be wonderful if I can receive this award again. But what's more important is to lead our team to achieve better results. We should continue cultivating the next generation, helping them to achieve greater success, earn higher honors, and make more contributions to the nation," Zhang said.
