Nigeria: I’ll Work with Stakeholders to Sustain Peace in Rivers — Fubara
Abuja, Nigeria - September 22, 2025 Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers says peace has fully returned to the state and pledged to work with stakeholders to sustain it in the interest of the people. Fubara stated this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after a thank-you visit to President Bola Tinubu on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together,” he declared. The governor described the visit to President Tinubu as necessary, following his resumption of duties after six months of emergency rule in the state. “You’re aware that the suspension was lifted midnight 17th, and I came in on the 19th. “Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr President and to tell him that I’m back, and I’ve also resumed my responsibility as the Governor of Rivers State,” he said. He added that the visit was also an opportunity to seek guidance from Mr President and avoid any future political crises in the state. “It’s not much. It’s a father-son discussion, telling him thank you and the areas where, if at all, there should be any issue for him to guide me properly so we don’t be in any situation of crisis.” Fubara declared an end to the political feud with his predecessor, now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
