RAMALLAH, WEST BANK, PALESTINE - SEPTEMBER 24: Israeli settlers opened fire on Wednesday, Sept. 24, toward a Palestinian funeral procession in the central West Bank for a man killed by settlers a day earlier, sparking clashes, according to witnesses and local sources.
The incident occurred during the burial of Saeed Murad Na'san, 20, in the town of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.
Anadolu's correspondent on the ground reported that a group of settlers stormed the outskirts of the town and began shooting toward the mourners.
The gunfire led to confrontations between Palestinians and the settlers. No injuries were reported from Wednesday's incident.
Al-Na'san was killed on Tuesday when settlers attacked the town of Al-Mughayyir, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. Four other Palestinians were injured in that attack.
According to the Palestinian Authority's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the killing of Al-Na'san brings the number of Palestinians killed by settlers since the start of the year to 12. Since Oct. 7, 2023, the number has risen to 34.
The ministry called for "genuine and exceptional international intervention to stop the crimes of the occupation and the settlers."
According to official Palestinian data, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 1,044 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and injured approximately 10,160 since Oct. 7. More than 19,000 have been arrested in the same period.
This violence occurs alongside the ongoing Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, which began after a Hamas attack on Oct. 7.
The Gaza health authorities say the war has resulted in over 65,000 deaths and 166,000 injuries, the majority being children and women, and has triggered a famine that has claimed hundreds of lives.
