Authorities deployed police vehicles and set up stone blocks and barriers to block access, while drivers were forced to turn back. Yom Kippur, known as the “Day of Atonement,” is the holiest day in Judaism. It is observed on the 10th day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei with a 25-hour fast, prayer, and reflection. Synagogues hold special services, and public life in Israel comes to a near standstill, with businesses closed and roads emptied.
