SHOTLIST: GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE (OCTOBER 9, 2025) (ANADOLU-ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF PALESTINIANS AT HOSPITAL YARD CELEBRATING THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF A CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT EXPECTED TO TAKE EFFECT SOON 2. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) YOUNG DISPLACED PALESTINIAN WOMAN SAYING: “We’ve been displaced here for exactly two years — that’s enough. Honestly, we are so happy, so full of spirit today. No one in the whole world could understand how relieved we feel today, because we have suffered for two years — two years of displacement, pain, oppression, exhaustion, and longing. We’ve lived through every kind of torment in those two years. Thank Allah, today He has granted us some relief. We have been steadfast, patient, and our faith has been only in Allah Almighty to end this war. The only thing I’m afraid of is that at any moment the Israelis might violate the ceasefire, because last year in January, a ceasefire was announced and contact was made, but the occupation broke it. All we hope for from the occupation is that they will honor the ceasefire and that it will finally hold — not be violated again. That’s all we want. We just want to live like the rest of the world, to return to our normal lives.” 3. VARIOUS OF EPOPLE CELEBRATING CEASEFIRE DEAL 4. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) ANOTHER YOUNG PALESTINIAN WOMAN SAYING: "I thank all the countries that stood by us in supporting the ceasefire, and I hope the ceasefire continues. Today we are very happy — happy that we’ll finally be able to sit without constantly thinking, for example, whether my brother, my cousin, or my friend will survive. Thank Allah, I thank all the countries that helped us and stood by us for the ceasefire. Allah willing, may this continue and bring us even more peace and blessings. Gaza will come back more beautiful and better than before, and it will be rebuilt. No matter how much we were displaced, how much we suffered, how much we moved from place to place — we will remain steadfast and patient at all times. I’m just afraid, because the first truce didn’t work out, and the second one also failed. So I ask all the countries: please, please — may the war not return. We can’t take any more. That’s enough, really. I mean, Gaza — Gaza used to be, and still is — more beautiful than all the Arab countries. Gaza is still beautiful, and it will be rebuilt." 5. VARIOUS OF EPOPLE CELEBRATING CEASEFIRE DEAL GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - OCTOBER 9: Palestinians in the Gaza Strip expressed relief and cautious joy on Thursday, Oct. 9, over an agreement for a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas. The deal, announced after indirect negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh with mediation from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, has sparked hopes for an end to two years of war, destruction, and famine. Residents stressed the urgent need to rebuild and for displaced families to return to their homes. A young woman in Gaza told Anadolu that, "We are so happy, so full of spirit today. No one in the whole world could understand how relieved we feel today, because we have suffered for two years — two years of displacement, pain, oppression, exhaustion, and longing." However, she voiced a widespread fear, saying, "I’m afraid of is that at any moment the Israelis might violate the ceasefire, because last year in January, a ceasefire was announced and contact was made, but the occupation broke it…We just want to live like the rest of the world, to return to our normal lives." Another resident echoed the sentiment, stating, "May this continue and bring us even more peace and blessings. Gaza will come back more beautiful and better than before, and it will be rebuilt.” “I’m just afraid because the first truce didn’t work out, and the second one also failed. So I ask all the countries: please, please — may the war not return. We can’t take any more. That’s enough, really,” she added. On Sept. 29, US President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point ceasefire plan for Gaza that includes the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, a permanent ceasefire, and a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip. A second phase of the plan calls for the establishment of a new governing mechanism in Gaza without Hamas' participation, the formation of a security force comprising Palestinians and troops from Arab and Islamic countries, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also stipulates Arab and Islamic funding for the new administration and the reconstruction of the Strip, with limited participation from the Palestinian Authority. While the majority of Arab and Muslim countries have welcomed the plan, some officials have also said that many details in it need discussion and negotiations to be fully implemented.
