KING CHARLES III'S LEAVING FROM AREAANTALYA, TÜRKİYE - MARCH 25, 2017: Britain’s Prince Andrew said on Friday, Oct. 17, that he would give up his royal titles, including Duke of York, after discussions with King Charles and other members of the royal family. In a statement, Andrew said ongoing accusations against him had become a distraction from the work of the King and the royal family. “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first,” he said, adding that he would no longer use his title or the honours conferred upon him. The prince reiterated his denial of the allegations, saying he “vigorously” rejects the accusations made against him. Prince Andrew was publicly linked to Epstein’s case in 2011, when Virginia Giuffre, a survivor of Epstein’s sex trafficking ring, accused the royal of abusing her when she was 17 after being trafficked by Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew denied the allegations but reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022. Giuffre, who became a leading voice in the Epstein case, died by suicide in April this year at the age of 41.
