Storyline: The White House said in a statement on social media Friday that there would unlikely be a release of inflation data for October due to the extended government shutdown. It will probably be the first time in history for the publication of these data to be halted, as the government shutdown, which entered its 24th day on Friday, has prevented the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) from collecting most October inflation data. The funding shortage also led to a delay in the release of the September consumer price index (CPI), which had been scheduled to be published on Oct 15. A visual guide released by CNN on its website on Thursday illustrated what's impacted by the government shutdown. CNN listed airports, early childhood education, federal courts, food assistance, home buying, infrastructure, museums, national parks, and transportation as the sectors that have been experiencing serious disruptions since the government shutdown began on Oct. 1. The U.S. Senate rejected a Republican-backed temporary funding bill on Wednesday in a 54-46 vote, leaving the shutdown deadlock unresolved. This marks the 12th time the Senate has voted down the stopgap measure following the onset of the federal government shutdown. Shotlist: FILE: Washington D.C., USA - Date Unknown: 1.
