It will probably be the first time in history for the publication of these data to be halted, as the government shutdown, which entered its 24th day on Friday, has prevented the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) from collecting most October inflation data. The funding shortage also led to a delay in the release of the September consumer price index (CPI), which had been scheduled to be published on Oct 15.
