VARIOUS OF UK PRIME MINISTER KEIR STARMER ADDRESSING JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE WITH TURKISH PRESIDENT RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN AFTER SIGNING DEAL ON EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON FIGHTER JETSANKARA, TÜRKİYE - OCT. 27, 2025: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the Eurofighter fighter jet deal between Türkiye and the United Kingdom will enhance NATO security and deepen bilateral cooperation in the defense industry. Starmer was addressing a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the two leaders signed an agreement on Monday, Oct. 27, for the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. President Erdogan described the agreement as a "new sign of Türkiye-UK strategic relations," asserting that it will pave the way for joint defense projects. Speaking at a joint news conference, Starmer said: “This will bolster security across NATO, deepen our bilateral defense cooperation, and boost economic growth here and in the United Kingdom, securing 20,000 British jobs, building these state-of-the-art fighter jets.” Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler said Türkiye is planning to acquire Eurofighter Typhoons from several countries, including 20 from the UK and 12 each from Qatar and Oman. Eurofighter Typhoon jets are currently used by five European countries—the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Austria—and four Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar. On July 23, Türkiye and the UK signed a memorandum of understanding allowing Ankara to operate Eurofighter Typhoon fighter planes. The agreement came after Germany’s Security Council approved the sale of 40 Eurofighter jets.
