VARIOUS OF CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS DEPLOYED TO LOS ANGELES REGIONAL FOOD BANK HELPING TO PACKAGE FOODS AMID SNAP SHUTDOWN LOS ANGELES, US - OCT. 29: The California National Guard was deployed to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to help with food distribution in response to the federal government shutdown and delays in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. SNAP benefits are set to expire Nov. 1, becoming a flashpoint in the government shutdown, which has now entered its 29th day. The shutdown, the second-longest in U.S. history, began Oct. 1 after a breakdown in negotiations over federal spending priorities. Thousands of federal employees have been furloughed or are working without pay, while many government services have been reduced or suspended.
