KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA (OCTOBER 31, 2025) (USERS MUST CREDIT: "INDONESIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY” HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO — EDITORIAL USE ONLY) U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Indonesia's Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin held a bilateral meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, Oct. 31, discussing measures to strengthen defense ties between the two nations.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and the upcoming ADMM-Plus gathering.

According to officials, the leaders focused on key areas of mutual interest, including maritime security, enhanced joint training programs, and maintaining regional stability across the Indo-Pacific.

Defense ministers from ASEAN member states and their counterparts from eight dialogue partners, including the U.S., China, and Russia, have convened in the Malaysian capital for a series of meetings set to conclude on Sunday.

During the opening session of the ministers' meeting, the ASEAN defense chiefs also approved the largest number of joint initiatives in a single year.
