1. VARIOUS OF DRONE SHOTS OF PORT WITH VESSELS AND LOADED TRUCK SYRIA - NOV. 3, 2025: Syria's transit agreement with Türkiye will be fully implemented by November, marking a step toward boosting cross-border trade and regional connectivity, a Syrian official has said.
Syria’s General Director of Land and Sea Ports, Mazen Alloush, said coordination and integration at border crossings with Türkiye are progressing swiftly, with the transit transport agreement set to become fully operational in November.
Alloush stated that weekly meetings are held with Turkish authorities to resolve any logistical or administrative challenges and emphasized Ankara’s continued support within its means.
He added that Turkish drivers will soon be able to obtain visas directly at border crossings, while Syrian drivers will continue to receive them from the Turkish consulate in Aleppo.
Alloush highlighted major modernization efforts across Syria’s land and sea ports since the fall of the former regime, including new X-ray systems, narcotics detection teams, and digital infrastructure upgrades.
He said that over 110,000 containers have been processed at Latakia and Tartus ports since December 2024 and that 20 new X-ray scanners will soon be activated at all crossings.
“We are rebuilding international corridors from destroyed gates,” Alloush said, expressing optimism that by next year all Syrian borders would be “fully standardized, equipped, and economically active.”
Since Bashar al-Assad’s ouster in late 2024, Syria’s new administration has taken several measures to restore security in Syria, pursued political and economic reforms while promoting social cohesion and working to expand cooperation with regional and international partners.
Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia last December, ending the Baath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963. A new transitional administration led by President Ahmad al-Sharaa was formed in January.
