Black woman told 'you can't walk here' by white man in small Devon town
This woman documented an uncomfortable encounter with a man who allegedly told her she "couldn't walk here".
TikTok user @shorehavenproject began recording when a white man began shouting something at her on a road in Oakhampton, Devon.
According to the filmer, the man was said that she could not walk along a specific part of the road. The filmer pointed out that other locals were walking along the same part.
She told Newsflare: "I was out for a walk in the park I came out of the interest and noticed a man shouting something at me. The area is hostile for people of colour so I turned and started filming in case it went badly.
"He told me I can’t walk here. It was a public road with cars and people walking. I know the area as my sister lives there. We got in a discussion about walking the on that side of the road, I feel it is relevant that I am a person of colour because this interaction is daily, they never stop anyone else.
"This kind of thing is worse for my African friends. It’s an excuse to stop and put you down and belittle you."
The filmer also mentioned that her sister, who also lives in the area, had the N-word spray painted on her door.
