Pokemon Go - Dragonite Crowd San Juan, PR

Between July 22 and July 23, the island of Puerto Rico hosted a large Pokémon Go meetup (page on Facebook) in El Morro, San Juan and Plaza del Quinto Centenario (colloquially known as El Tótem). Puerto Rico has been waiting for official access to the popular game's servers for weeks prior, and thanks to the scheduling of the meetup just days after the servers were released, the meetup attracted a massive crowd- more than a thousand people attended.

Dragonite is one of the strongest and rarest naturally occurring wild pokemon in the game, making it a very important Pokémon to catch, especially for the bigger fans of the game that intend to use it in Gyms- Places where you fight other trainers' Pokémon, and defend with your own.

The event occurring in the video happened on the second day, around 9 PM. Although the meeting ended officially on 8 PM, trainers still gathered to socialize and capture Pokémon.

"Dragonite! There's a Dragonite over here!"

A distant yell echoed. Suddenly, congregations of people, chattering excitedly, hopped down the steps of the Plaza and ran leftward towards the source of the yell. I quickly pulled my camera up as one by one stopped to catch the incredibly rare Pokémon. The crowd trailed through the street, stopping several cars in their tracks. Many saw it, but only few caught it. The rest either didn't see it at all, or had the Dragonite flee from them. The crowd continued in the same spot while trainers discussed their latest catch. For most, this was the last catch of the night, as they returned home to rest from the excitement.

Nowadays, "El Tótem" still attracts trainers, and the rare Pokémon they seek.

Other extra information: The video was captured on a Samsung Galaxy S7. The street was partially blocked by a small car crash; some say it was someone that was gawking at the trainers, distracted from the road, that bumped into another car.
