Groundbreaking fighter drone driven by AI needs no runway to launch air strikes. A new futuristic fighter drone has been unveiled. Developed by U.S. company Shield AI in San Diego, X-BAT offers a chilling look at the future of autonomous warfare. Driven by an advanced artificial intelligence system called Hivemind, the X-BAT can fly up to 2,300 miles and strike enemy targets with precision - all without needing a runway. It’s a vertical takeoff and landing drone that can operate solo, or as a wingman alongside manned fighter jets. It can carry out air strikes, electronic warfare, and intelligence missions completely autonomously. X-BAT’s design makes it perfect for remote or high-risk areas, launching from trailers, aircraft carriers, or isolated islands. After 18 months of development, the drone has completed its ground tests, with vertical flight trials set for 2026 and full mission capability expected by 2028.
