Storyline: The Metropolitan Police (Met) of London confirmed on Wednesday that a sex offender had been mistakenly released on October 29, just five days after another wrongful release. The Met told Sky News that shortly after 13:00 local time on Tuesday, it was informed by the Prison Service that a prisoner had been released in error from HM Prison Wandsworth. The 24-year-old man was later identified, police said. Sky News reported that the inmate had been serving a sentence for trespass with intent to steal but had previously committed sexual offenses. The incident occurred only two days after British Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary David Lammy announced stricter checks on prisoner releases.
