Little Grey always believes it's the top authority in the household, and sometimes it feels the need to prove it—like in this moment. As I was lounging on the sofa watching videos with the volume slightly up, it suddenly sprang up from its nap at my feet and clamped onto my clothes with just enough pressure—not quite a bite, more of a warning hold—while flicking the tip of its tail triumphantly as if to say, "See who's in charge here?" But its pride lasted all of three seconds. Almost as soon as I gasped, an orange-and-white blur shot into the room—Little Orange, who rushed behind Grey and decisively chomped the scruff of its neck. Stunned but stubborn, Grey held on, prompting Orange to bite down more firmly. Watching this little "guardian" in action melted my heart. I reached out, gathered both cats close, and gently stroked them, saying, "Alright, alright, it’s okay—thank you, Orange, for saving me, and Grey was just playing, right?" With a dismissive sniff, Grey turned away, tacitly admitting defeat. Meanwhile, Orange, soothed by my touch and assured the "crisis" was over, relaxed his puffed-up fur, and its rumbling purr softened as it settled beside me, head resting on my leg, as if declaring, "This territory is under my protection." I know this little rescue drama will replay many times in our home—one cat the feisty "provocateur," the other the loyal "guardian." And deep down, I understand: in their own clumsy, heartfelt way, they're both showing exactly the same thing—love.
