China: 38th Golden Rooster Awards winners announced, 'Her Story' bags three awards
Winners of the 38th Golden Rooster Awards were announced Saturday evening at the closing ceremony of the China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival 2025 held in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province. The best actress honor went to Song Jia, the protagonist of Her Story, which also features Zhong Chuxi, who was awarded the Best Supporting Actress on Saturday as well. Her Story also grabbed the Best Feature award, becoming the biggest winner at this year's ceremony. The best actor award went to Jackson Yee for his performance in the film Big World. Chen Sicheng and Dai Mo won the Best Director award for Detective Chinatown 1900. The animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2, which shattered many box office records in Chinese film history and now ranks as the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time globally, bagged the Best Animated award. Italian feature film There's Still Tomorrow seized the award for best international film. The documentary Hotline Beijing spotlights the 12345 public service hotline and how Beijing responds to public complaints, offering a window into China's urban governance experience. Besides the awards ceremony, the film festival hosted a public-benefit program in Xiamen. At a community courtyard in Haicang District that blends Minnan farming culture with film art, filmmakers presented soundtrack performances and scene dubbing, while local residents staged heritage shows. Launched in 1981, the Golden Rooster Awards is sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Film Association.
