Brazil: Hailstorm Pounds Backyard As Violent Ice Barrage Hits Erechim
Erechim, Brazil - November 23, 2025 X user Guardião da Evidência recorded a fierce hailstorm striking a residential backyard in Rio Grande do Sul on Sunday, November 23, 2025, between 4:40 and 4:50 PM local time. The video begins under a wooden patio roof with exposed beams as large translucent hailstones slam onto the tiled floor. The ice ranges from pea-sized to pieces one to two centimeters wide, bouncing across shallow puddles that ripple from each impact. Sheets of rain blur the edges of the frame while gusts scatter leaves and debris over the wet surface. As the camera tilts upward, a rectangular infinity-edge pool about 10 by 4 meters fills the midground. Its cobalt-blue mosaic tiles appear beneath water violently churned by the falling hail. Each impact sends splashes bursting upward, droplets striking close to the lens. A beige outdoor umbrella on a weighted black base stands beside the pool, its fabric thrashing in the storm and dotted with melting ice. The wider view reveals a manicured lawn flattened under the barrage, turning emerald grass into a speckled white field. A low retaining wall borders a sloping area covered in dense broadleaf vegetation, likely including araucaria pines and ferns typical of the region’s highland climate. In the distance, a modern two-story stucco house with a terracotta roof emerges through the foliage. Its white exterior is streaked by runoff, with glimpses of a driveway and a neighboring home reinforcing the suburban setting. Tall eucalyptus trees sway on the perimeter, their branches shedding cascades of water in the turbulent wind. Toward the end of the clip, the hail begins to lessen, giving way to heavier rain, yet the ground remains coated in a layer of ice pellets slowly dissolving across the yard.
