Israel: Israeli Chief of Staff Lights Eighth Hanukkah Candle With Hasmonean Brigade Soldiers
Israel - December 21, 2025 The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, marked the eighth night of Hanukkah on Sunday by lighting candles together with soldiers and commanders of the Hasmonean Brigade at Tevetz Camp. During the visit, Zamir met with brigade personnel, expressed appreciation for their service, and emphasized the importance of their enlistment in maintaining Israel’s security. He highlighted the brigade’s operational activity over the past year, noting that it demonstrates the ability to combine combat service with an ultra-Orthodox lifestyle. Zamir stated that the IDF continues efforts to expand recruitment, including among ultra-Orthodox communities, to strengthen readiness for future challenges. He also referenced recent milestones within the brigade, including the completion of its first commanders’ course and plans to open an officers’ course for ultra-Orthodox fighters. The Chief of Staff added that the IDF remains committed to ongoing missions, including efforts related to fallen and missing personnel, underscoring that operational responsibilities continue alongside ceremonial observances.
